A few months ago, I stumbled coming down my stairs, split my chin open, and had to spend the night at the hospital to get stitches. That’s an experience I hope I don’t have again.

I got there around 9 p.m. and was there all night, it being almost 5 a.m. before I saw the inside of the emergency room and the medical injection molding equipment seemingly found in doctors’ offices and hospitals everything. I didn’t bring a laptop or anything for the waiting room, just sitting and watching CBS. Let me say, television gets real bad around 2:30 in the morning when the prostate infomercial comes on. A 30-minute long ad on custom injection molding (any type of overmolding, really) would have been preferable.

That says nothing of the people I was around. Lacking health insurance and living in the San Francisco Bay Area, I went to a public hospital in East Oakland. The highlight of the people present was a presumably homeless lady who undressed in front of me and later asked me for money for a soda. I’ve blocked it out in my memory.

It’s funny, for all the hours that I waited, when I finally got stitched up, it took a matter of minutes (though I still have bills for about $1,500 that need to be settled.) It’s like sitting all day fishing or going to a baseball game, where in a three-hour contest, the ball is in play for about five minutes. On the water, at the ballpark, or in the hospital, the true drama is in the wait.

The birth of a child is one of the more celebrated events during a person’s lifetime and if you have relatives or friends that are about ready to become new parents, you will likely want to share that excitement with them. Giving gifts during that time is either something that is done spur of the moment or it is done in an organized way, such as when you’re attending a baby shower. Although you do have many choices available to you when making gifts for the baby, you would do well to choose from among the many organic baby products that are available. What are these items and why can they be beneficial to both the child and to the parents as well.

Organic items are becoming more and more popular for children because they do not contain the harmful chemicals that may be included in non-organic items. An example of this is organic baby sheets, something that is going to be against the baby’s skin for many hours throughout the day. By choosing organic, you are avoiding all the pesticides and other items which may have been sprayed on the crops that were used to make the sheets. The same is also true with organic baby toys, items that are played with by children frequently and may end up in the mouth, when they are young children. By choosing items that are organic, you know that it is safe for the child and it is a great choice for everyone who is involved.
